Dr. Carl Ehmann is a former Chairman of the FRD Board of Directors.  During his career, Dr. Ehmann was the Research and Development leader of several large multi-national companies including Bristol-Myers (Dermatology), Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products Company, Reynolds Technology Inc. and Reckitt & Coleman.  Dr. Ehmann began his industrial research career at Hoffmann-LaRoche Pharmaceutical Company, eventually becoming head of its dermatological group.  This group was responsible for the development of the breakthrough therapeutics for severe dermatological diseases including the first systemic retinoid, Accutane.  

     Dr. Ehmann has served on several biotechnology Boards and advises for both start-up and established companies. Throughout his business, research and medical practice careers, Dr. Ehmann has held academic appointments including Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, Wake Forest University, New York University and the University of Minnesota.  In addition, Dr. Ehmann is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the New York Academy of Medicine, and the National Board of Medical Examiners and has been a member of numerous professional societies.  Dr. Ehmann also holds a BS and an MD from State University of New York at Buffalo.
