Dr. Diana Vincent

Diana Vincent, PhD, is Foundation for Research Development Faculty Liaison for Intellectual Property and Chair of the Intellectual Property Committee.  Diana, left her position at the University of Pittsburgh fourteen years ago moving back south to join the faculty of the Medical University of South Carolina. 

During her time as Director of the MUSC Multi Disciplinary Advanced Image Analysis Laboratory, she built the intense computational and informatics infrastructure necessary for functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) supporting millions in grant research. She developed fMRI methodologies used in clinical and surgical evaluations. 

Furthermore, Dr. Vincent was the Director of the MUSC Radiology Flow Lab, dedicated to the development of interventional neuroradiological devices.  From this work several patents were issued (co-inventor on one).  One patent was subsequently licensed to a major medical device company; two others were the cornerstone of a start-up company which has since gone public.   She was the faculty representative on the Board of Directors of the MUSC Foundation for Research Development for five years.  As Chair of the Intellectual Property Committee, Vincent is responsible for leading the revision the Intellectual Property Policy for the university.

Dr. Vincent is currently serving as a bridge between basic scientists and physicians, where she helps to translate research into clinical practice and commercial products.  Dr. Vincent has experienced the full spectrum of technology development, from creation, patenting, licensing, start-up going public to litigation.

Diana Vincent received her BS, a double major in physics and mathematics, a terminal MS in physics (major acoustics, minor geology), MS in mathematics and a PhD in applied mathematics (biomedical imaging) from the University of Southwestern Louisiana.
